Joel got my desktop hooked up to our new CenturyLink service, so no more Comcast issues. I can finally make my Day 16 entry.
Here's my answer...
It doesn't make me cry any more, but it did when I first watched the rabbit video someone made to go with it on YouTube. That one was taken down or I'd have posted that video.
Just what you wanted to see, right? A song about death? I almost put up a funny video to break the rules again, but I played along this time. And now I feel ashamed.
Half way to the finish, Baby! Then I'll have to go back to coming up with my own ideas for blog entries. Uh oh...thinking on my own? I may have forgotten how to do that already.
Do you really want my thoughts on things that are over-rated? There are so many!
Before I give you my answer, here are just a few of the many things that are over-rated in my opinion.
Justin Bieber
This kid isn't really THAT good, is he? Every time I've seen him he was sporting the "I'm the shit" attitude, for one thing. And his music really isn't that outstanding. I mean he has singing talent, that's for sure. But why is everyone so smitten over this mini-star?
Black Coffee
What is it about drinkers of black coffee that makes them feel superior to those of us who take ours with cream or sweetener? Just because you prefer the taste of one thing over the other doesn't make you special. If you really want to impress me then fill that over-sized mug with some Tequila. If you guzzle it without puking or making a face then you're pretty impressive. Otherwise, shut the f*&k up about your black coffee and hand me the creamer, ya douche! I'm not hating on those of you who drink black coffee. I'm hating on the ones that seem to think they're somehow more awesome than those of use who don't.
Blackberry Storms
These "smart phones" can't do NEARLY as much fun stuff as the iPhone! Why have they always been compared? I don't get it? Granted, a Blackberry is more fun than a regular cell, but it's not even in the same league as the iPhone. I had my BB for a year and it served its purpose, but I don't understand how they can charge as much for a BB as they do iPhones and even put them in the same category. Maybe that's Apple's fault. Maybe Apple should come up with a totally new category for the iPhone other than smart phone.
Farmville & Other Time Wasting FB Apps
I know I'm opening myself up to hate mail on this one, but WHY oh why do so many people play Farmville? I just don't get it. Facebook isn't enough of a time sucker for you? You want to tend a digital farm while you're at it? And guess what!? Those of us who do not play it (or the many other time wasters) don't give a flying fart if you need some pretend thing for your pretend farm. Wow, that came out bitchy...sorry about that. Okay, maybe I shouldn't speak for other people, but I don't enjoy reading about pretend farms. Maybe because I grew up on a real one I don't see the point. Maybe that's it. Maybe it'd be intriguing to me if I hadn't actually lived on the real thing. That doesn't explain why I also don't get the rest of the FB time suckers. It just gets in the way of the real life updates to me. While you're at it, why even publish it if it's for YOUR pleasure? If you're playing for your own fun why do WE need to see it? I've hidden Farmville from view on FB, but there's a new one every single day that I have to hide. I can't even imagine if I hadn't started hiding those damn things. I'd never see the REAL stuff going on for all the PRETEND stuff. I'm not saying that all of you people that play it are douches like the black coffee snobs, but it's just not something I understand. So it goes into the "What Rischa thinks is over-rated" pile. With all that said, if you enjoy it, keep playing it....not that you need my permission or even give a crap what I think. If I played something and I enjoyed it I wouldn't care what YOU thought.
I could probably keep going with the things I dub "over-rated", but I think I'm coming off like a real bitch, so I'll call it a day. Now, let's just examine the choices above, shall we?
There are 3 things on my list that people will eventually tire of and move on. So my choice will be the thing that'll stick around for years and years. People will eventually get tired of the time wasting Farmville and move on to another time wasting activity. Like Blogging perhaps? The same can be said for Justin Bieber. Blackberry Storms will become outdated eventually, as well. It may have already happened with the Droid. So that leaves us with Black Coffee!
Ding, ding, ding....we have a winner!
What do I think is over-rated?
Black Coffee!
Really people! If you like it, drink it. Just don't feel special because of it. Feel special for some other reason. Maybe you feel special because you saved a pretend pig on your pretend farm? Or maybe you're on a Blackberry shopping high? Or maybe Justin Bieber makes you tingle. Although, if you're over 18 I think that's either illegal or just plain wrong, so stop that! Shame on you!
The above opinions are those of the blog host and do not reflect her thoughts on YOU personally....unless you're a coffee snob? These opinions are meant to be taken lightly, so lighten the hell up if you're steaming right now. Don't complain to me in the comments if you disagree with the thoughts above. Seriously, I really don't give a damn what you think as it pertains to the listed items. And I'm surprised you care about mine. But you must if you read this far down, right?
Today I'm supposed to show you all a photo that makes me sad or angry.
Well, there are lots of those types of photos. When I see animal or human
cruelty photos, when I see a photo of someone that I love that has been lost to this
world, when I see images of personal loss, such as flood, fire, famine, disease,
or natural disasters, I get upset. I get sad and angry at the same things that
would probably make YOU sad and angry. But why would I want to wallow in that
kind of thing? I'm not going to make my blog readers sad or angry! I read a
quote yesterday that said something like, "Women who never break the rules
rarely make history". So guess what, Ladies and Gents! No pitiful photos will be
posted here! Not today, anyway. So SMILE and be happy my beautiful blog readers!
I've seen Tumblr mentioned on blogs, but I have no idea what it is, so don't ask me. I'm clueless. I think it has something to do with blogging, but....that's all I know. I have so many online things going on I don't even want to look into it because I'd probably want to sign up. Ha!
The reason I bring Tumblr up at all is because I saw that Willowing is doing something called "30 Days of Tumblr" over on her blog. It looks like a fun way to get me blogging on a daily basis again. So here are the daily questions:
Day 01 — A newly discovered song. Day 02 — A movie you want to see. Day

photo that makes you happy. Day 08 — A photo that makes you

for the next 365 days. Day 30 — Something random.
It's time to get started with the FIRST DAY.
DAY 01: A Newly Discovered Song
I was planning to put up the "Give me back that Filet-O-Fish" video just because it's what seems to always be stuck in my head lately. (And now yours, too, probably...sorry) However, I figured that wouldn't endear me to anyone. LOL So here's a REALLY great song by a band that I'm sure a lot of you have heard of because of the Sock Monkey commercial. It's actually a car commercial, but to ME it's the Sock Monkey commercial. I like the song featured in the commercial, too, but Joel and I both recently discovered that we love all of their others, as well. This is my favorite.
The Heavy - Sixteen
Since I know there are people who have no idea what Sock Monkey commercial I'm referring to, here's THAT video, too.
Okay, so that's day 1. Any takers on how long I'll keep this up?
Instead of sending this each time I get it, I thought I'd post it here...

Just a quick post since I'm not feeling well tonight. Must have been all of that over-indulgence today in the name of Thanks. Mmmm....stuffing! Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate, btw! Happy Thursday (Friday now actually) to you all in other countries besides the US.
Speaking of over-indulging....here's the meat of the post. It's a video of a song I'm loving right now. Toe Jam! Yuck, but makes for a good song! Don't watch if nudity offends ya. The naughty bits are covered, but they're still naked under those censor bars.
I was just blog-hopping and found this hilarious video. As the subject says, don't watch this if your easily offended. It's really not that bad, but I know some might not find it in the best taste. LOL
....Yep! Another widget has been added to my blog. Scroll all the way down to where the left menu bar ends. It shows how people got to my page and where they are in the world. Basically the same as the other widget, but set up a bit differently. It's simpler. Check it out!
It's about an hour into Saturday right now. I'm laying in bed already. Very early for me. I have company right now, though, so Kolby's bunking on the couch. He needed to go to sleep so I left him alone in the living room on the pull out couch. He has to have things very quiet and very dark to sleep.
Today was nice. Joel and I went shopping while Kolby and his grandparents went to a museum. Well, they tried, but it was closed. Joel and I went to another music store. I bought 2 books that I'm ready to start using with my keyboard. Joel didn't find what he was looking for, but they'll be getting another one in soon. He said he'll just go back Monday. He wants a guitar strap with a frog on it.
We also went to Wally World to exchange some outfits I bought for Penny that were too darn small. On the back of the package it said it was for "Dachshund Miniature". lol Not my little Penny Longbelly. Or should I say Penny thick belly. So I had to go back and get her mediums in the outfits. She looks so flippin cute in them!
After that we hit Target. I got some lipstick that I'm really hoping with look right. I can't seem to find the right shade. I hate the way my lips look. Oh, and while we're at it I'd also change my skin and hair if I could. *sigh* Everything on me seems to be getting less attractive. Skin, hair, lips, BUTT! I did go for a walk after we got home, but only after overindulging in a Starbucks Latte and some ribs and stuffing. I also had steamed veggies, but I think all the other stuff canceled out the veggies. lol
I guess I'll go ahead and try to get to sleep. I did get up fairly early this morning, but as I've said before....I always feel energized at night and end up staying up all night. Wish me luck with my sleep. Nighters!
....and here I lie in bed wide awake. I took a nap because I wasn't feeling well from about 7:30-11:30. I woke up as Joel was getting into bed. I realized how long I had been sleeping and had to get up and feed the dogs and do all the things I had planned to do before bed. I felt much better, but I've been wide awake ever since. I still feel like I could get up right now and clean the whole house from top to bottom and still not be tired. That's normal for me at night anyway; Nap or no nap! I've always felt more energized at night than in the day. Kolby is the same way. He says he always feels better at night. My grandmother, Mam-maw, has told me she feels the same way. Others always say, "well, you'd feel better if you went to bed at a decent time". They don't understand and they never will. It's not that simple. If only, though!!! I do know that it's possible to get your days and nights mixed up from sleeping at the wrong hours, but it still isn't the same. Oh well.....to be understood, right? I know everyone feels that way for one thing or another. Hey, I still feel great about myself that I got 3 loads of laundry washed, dried and folded, washed the dishes, cleaned the kitchen and living room, fed the dogs, practiced my BRAND SPANKIN NEW KEYBOARD, fed the fish, took out the dogs, checked some email, took my meds, and still had time to watch Days of Our Lives and hold Penny as she went to sleep.
Yep, I got a new keyboard for Christmas from Joel and Kolby. Sweet, eh?! I'm loving this thing, too! It's SO neat! Now I've got all my piano instruction books back out of the garage and I've been practicing. I've even played a few songs. Things are coming back to me very quickly. I'm having to get the FEEL of things again, though. The comfort of the movements will come back to me slower I"m realizing. I'm re-learning the traditional way....not the "Fake It" way. Did you know there were two ways to learn piano? Yep, the traditional way is to learn the notes and to read sheet music. Faking it is more fun learning and playing, but you can't read sheet music when all is said and done. I have found only ONE place that teaches BOTH ways of learning, but the course is way too expensive. Oh well....maybe he'll have a sale one day. lol I signed up for his newsletter.
So I hope your Christmas was wonderful. Ours was nice. On Christmas Eve we always let Kolby open one gift from us. He chose to open Scrabble. We ended up playing Scrabble with him until 2:30 or 3 in the morning. This meant it was Christmas and I was outvoted on opening gifts then instead of waking up and opening like we normally do. But whatcha gonna do when you live with 2 male kids. lol Yes, Joel is a kid when it comes to Christmas. Anyway, so we exchanged gifts and told Kolby to take off to his room while we did the Santa thing. lol Ever since he found out there was no Santa he has graciously played along as if there were one so he'd still get the goodies. Plus, it's fun for me and Joel. Kolby's big gift this year was a Playstation 3. That thing can do it all I'm tellin ya! We also got him some games and blue ray movies to go along with it. We also gave him a new, 7.2 mp camera, an Ipod, and lots of other stuff that he really seemed to love. He had a big Christmas this year. I wish we had done it after daylight and after we had slept so it would have felt more like Christmas, but that's what I get for living with two males. lol They keep things interesting, that's for sure.
I haven't blogged since my mom was here I don't think. She bought us a smoker from Bass Pro shop for Christmas. We love this thing! It's been great for me, too, because now Joel always wants to cook in that smoker, so it lets me off the hook for cooking. I still cook the veggies and whatnot, but he does the meat. For Christmas he smoked a ham and I made broccoli with cheese and stovetop stuffing. Easy stuff, but that's what Joel wanted. Kolby would never choose broccoli, but he needs the greens whether he thinks so or not. lol
I have tons more to blog about, but I better at least try to shut my eyes and go to dreamland. Next time I'll talk about my day with Santa a couple of weeks ago. That was fun and I have 125 photos to show for it. lol Oh, and I got some photos of Penny in a Santa outfit, too. She was TOO cute!!!! See ya next time!
